The Importance of Phytochemicals!

vegetablePhytochemicals (or described as the nutrients) can be found within vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds. herbs, spices, beans etc)
They are essential to health.

Phytochemicals have a profound effect on how our genes manifest their activity ie. in health or disease. What you eat matters!

Food heals the body! There is no disease that cannot be helped by diet.

Phytochemicals provided in fruits & vegetables are nature's own health foods.
Phytochemicals prevent the onset of disease. We need to eat foods with these healing properties every day.

Phytochemicals act as anti oxidants, help enzymes carry out their work, destroy bacteria, or emulate the actions of hormones..

Generally the more brightly coloured the vegetables or fruit the more phytochemicals they contain although onions, garlic etc contain them too.
Spices such as Turmeric contain phytochemicals too.
Eat as great a variety of foods as you can everyday :)
